JETS Offers Life-long Learning

AAA Ambulance Service — “Here For You Since 1965” — now offers life-long learning opportunities to help businesses and individuals assure they’re prepared for emergency response.

Under the new product line JETS – Jobs Educations & Training Services – AAA Ambulance Service amplified its scope of services with employment of a full-time, dedicated education coordinator. Comprehensive Jobs Education & Training Services functions independently as a department within the organization and also in tandem with the primary services of ground, air, and trauma-related medical operations.

Beyond the AAA Ambulance Service crews, AAA Ambulance offers education and training to people who work for other EMS providers; large and small businesses; hospital-based physicians and nurses; fire and police officers; child care center operators; and individuals who simply want to “Be Ready.”

All courses meet uniform services, standards, and procedures of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

“Most employers believe that every worker deserves a safe work environment,” said Wade N. Spruill, Jr, chief executive officer for AAA Ambulance Service. “Every employer deserves to have healthy workers safely on the job without the risk of workplace injury. Those employers concentrate on putting safety to work.

“Through job safety education and training — and the continual focus on safety from employers and workers — this goal can be achieved,” he affirmed.

AAA Ambulance Service is one of only four EMS providers throughout Mississippi with American Heart Association contracts as a Community Training Center.

Offering, facilitating, assuring the quality, and maintaining records for all AHA-approved courses enables AAA Ambulance Service to help citizens and health care providers continue to learn and keep their skills up to date.

AAA Ambulance Service maintains extensive records of individuals' continuing education and other learning activities. Each student is responsible for notifying his employer and certifying professional or educational attainment upon completion of courses. Anyone can access his or her individual information by contacting the JETS coordinator at 601-264-2221 or via e-mail to JETS@aaaambulance.net.

Dates and details appear on the company’s Web-site, www.aaaambulance.net — the calendar includes more than 75 scheduled classes. Additionally, JETS staff schedule, customize, and deliver on-site training to help meet organizations' specific needs and learning objectives; JETS takes training to the customer!

While some classes help students get Continuing Education Units to meet re-certification requirements, other train-the-trainer courses prepare learners to themselves become teachers. All benefit both the learner and the individual's employer.

Some classes throughout AAA's 10-county service area are little to no cost for volunteers who get no pay for the community service they give in that area of study.

Many courses begin at 8 am and conclude by 4:30 pm. Others can be scheduled to meet students' time and site needs. Most classes are offered at AAA Ambulance Service, 207 South 28th Avenue, Hattiesburg, Mississippi 39401; the EMT-Basic and EMT-Paramedic Refreshers usually move to the YMCA, located at 3719 Veterans Memorial Drive, Hattiesburg.

AAA Ambulance Service was founded in 1965, creating one of the first licensed emergency medical service providers in Mississippi. The company’s mission is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce trauma-related personal anguish and health care costs. AAA Ambulance Service remains stable, reliable, customer-oriented, and structured to grow and meet future needs.
